intimate Encounters documents the growing choice people make to cross cultural and religious boundaries through matrimony.  No other single event results in such an intimate understanding of a different culture and religion.  It has special significance for the multi-ethnic social fabric of the world.  Sometimes complex, mixed marriages are always stimulating.

Intimate Encounters discusses the critical issues of spousal solidarity, cultural assimilation and community acceptance in an intimate relationship.  Couples with different linguistic, racial, cultural and religious backgrounds discuss the complexity of their relationships and its impact on their personal and communal lives.  Children of mixed marriages have a different set of challenges facing them as they grow up than children of a homogeneous descent.  The children discuss personality issues and their own solutions to their mixed identity question.  Also highlights the emerging empowerment movement of the mixed race children world wide.  The issue of identity constitutes an important part of the documentary.
