5. School

One day his parents
who saw him
looking lonely and sad
always playing by himself
took him
to a Convent school
the best private school in town
where he met Mother Superior
a middle aged heavy set woman
wearing a black habit
and was introduced
to Sister Bernadine
a tall white nun
wearing a white habit
and a golden cross
who held his hand gently
and guided him to the classroom
His mom followed them
At the classroom door
Sister Bernadine asked his mom
to stay behind and let her look after him
When he looked back
she had tears in her eyes
and he started to cry too
Sister Bernadine took him
to a cupboard
filled his pocket with toffees
and made him sit
next to a charming little girl
That day
he fell in love
with his teacher and the school
and never missed a day of school
even when he was sick.
