6. Birthday present

The day before his fifth birthday
Khizr was pleasantly surprised
to see his grandmother
visiting from Lahore
but puzzled to see
his mom been taken to the hospital
The next morning
when his dad took him to the hospital
he was told
he had a little sister
who was wrapped in a baby blanket
lying next to his mom
Do you want to hold her? his mom asked
No, I want a little brother.
Everybody was surprised
to hear his reaction
When the doctor came
he told her
Please take my sister back
and bring me a little brother
and everybody laughed
Since the little girl
was beautiful and wonderful
they named her Sundar, the charming one.
As Sundar grew older
she grew on Khizr
he found a little play-mate
and as they grew older
they became best of friends.
